Last year InFiné shed light on a record from a French Pioneer of electronic music that originally went under the radar, Bernard Szajners’ Visions of Dune. The 1979 concept album based around Frank Herbert’s cult Dune Trilogy received praise and support from renown artists, media and record stores alike. Now 35 years on since the original LP was released,
InFiné thought it was time to let a newer generation create their interpretations of Visions of Dune. Rethinking Z is a projection of those visions in 2015, reworked by a new breed of IDM, Ambient & Experimental artists; Scanner, Ghosting Season, Clara Moto & Tyler Pope, Irene Dresel and Siavash Amini.
There’s also two new collaborations between Szajner & Etienne Jaumet, Szajner & Almeeva alongside a new track from Szajner himself, oopsyloopsylotsylots.
The sole recording from this Brooklyn group, “Service” is hushed and mysterious, its artful songs defying easy categorization. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 28, 2023
